GRAND BLANC MAN RECEIVES AWARD
Grand Blanc resident Dewaine V. Robinson will receive the 2004 Michigan Pharmacists
Association (MPA) Executive Board Medal Award during the association's Annual
Convention & Exposition, held Feb. 27-29 at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn,
Mich.
The Executive Board Medal Award is given annually to an individual who has
demonstrated an extraordinary personal commitment to MPA. The award was developed
to recognize individuals who have been instrumental to the MPA Executive Board
and to the association in advancing pharmacy's agenda.
A 1955 graduate of Ferris State University (FSU), Robinson went on to own
and operate three community pharmacies in the Flint area from 1962 to 1986.
Robinson has been actively promoting pharmacy and assisting MPA for decades.
He has been Chairman of the Pharmacy Services Inc. Board of Directors since
1983 and has served as President of Pharmacy Systems Inc. since 1986. In addition,
he is a director and past chairman of Pharmacy Services Insurance Ltd. and
a member and past chairman of the Michigan Pharmacy Foundation Board of Trustees.
Robinson is a charter member of FSU's Rho Chi Honor Society and served as
a member of their Alumni Board for eight years. He has been a member of both
the President's and Dean's Club at FSU.
Robinson has been recognized for his contributions to pharmacy, not only by
being honored with this prestigious award, but also having been named Pharmacist
of the Year in 1974 by the Genesee County Pharmacists Association and in 1980
by MPA. In 2002, he received the Health Plus of Michigan Dr. Gary Roat Honoree
Award.
Robinson has been a member of MPA since 1955 and is also a member of the National
Community Pharmacists Association.
The MPA, serving over 3,500 pharmacy professionals, strives to be a leader
in professional and scientific advancement by following its mission of encouraging
and supporting its members as the professionals responsible for the delivery
of patient-oriented pharmaceutical care.
