NOVI PHARMACIST RECEIVES PHARMACIST OF THE YEAR AWARD

Kathleen Pawlicki of Novi was awarded the Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) Pharmacist of the Year Award at the MSHP Annual Meeting, Nov. 12, in Lansing, Mich.

Every year, MSHP recognizes a pharmacist who is a model in leadership and achievement, is committed to health-system pharmacy, is active in pharmacy organizations, participates in community service, demonstrates innovative practice and has professional demeanor, integrity and ethics.

Pawlicki is currently Director of Pharmacy Services at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, an adjunct assistant professor at Wayne State University and a clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan. She was previously employed with Detroit Medical Center for ten years, working for Harper University Hospital, Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and Sinai Grace Hospital. Pawlicki received her Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University in 1984 and her Master of Science degree from Wayne State University in 1988.

Pawlicki has been a member of the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) for 11 years and is currently completing her first year on the MPA Executive Board. Additionally, she served on the MSHP Board of Directors (as president in 2002) and the Southeastern Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists Board of Directors (as president from 1995 - 1996). Pawlicki is also a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and has served on various ASHP committees and as a Michigan delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates. In 2001, Pawlicki was recognized as a fellow of ASHP.

MSHP is a practice section that consists of more than 600 of MPA's 3,500 members. Since its founding in 1883, MPA has been a leader in the professional and scientific advancement of pharmacy and in safeguarding the well-being of the individual patient in Michigan.
