PLYMOUTH RESIDENT RECEIVES AWARD

Wyn Schumann of Plymouth was recognized as the Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) 2004 Joe Oddis Leadership Award recipient at the MSHP Annual Meeting, Nov. 12, in Lansing, Mich.
Recipients of this award must be active in association work, be a member of MSHP and display leadership qualities. The award consists of $100 and a plaque.

Schumann is currently a clinical associate professor of pharmacy practice and Assistant Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs at the Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Detroit, where she has been employed since 1990. Prior to that, she was Director of Pharmacy for McPherson Hospital in Howell.

In addition to the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) and MSHP, Schumann is also a member of such organizations as the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Pharmacists Association, Lambda Kappa Sigma International Fraternity, Southeastern Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Wayne County Pharmacists Association and Wayne State University Pharmacy Alumni Association. Schumann is also a charter member and board member of the Michigan Pharmacy Foundation.
Schumann received her Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University in 1960 and her Master of Science degree in hospital pharmacy administration from Wayne State University in 1990.

This award is named in honor of Joe Oddis, the former longtime executive vice president of ASHP. Oddis is regarded to be a model in leadership for other health-system pharmacists to follow.

MSHP is a practice section of that consists of over of 600 of MPA's 3,500 members. Since its founding in 1883, MPA has been a leader in the professional and scientific advancement of pharmacy and in safeguarding the well-being of the individual patient in Michigan.
