GRAND RAPIDS RESIDENT RECEIVES AWARD
Mary Reed
of Grand Rapids was recognized as the Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists
(MSHP) 2002 Joe Oddis Leadership Award recipient at the MSHP Annual Meeting
Nov. 8 in Lansing, Mich.
Recipients
of this award must be active in association work, be a member of MSHP and display
leadership qualities. The award consists of $100 and a plaque.
Reed retired
from her position as Director of Pharmacy at Spectrum Health earlier this year.
Her professional distinctions include Pharmacist of the Year awards from both
the Western Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists and MSHP.
In addition
to the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) and MSHP, Reed is also a member
of such organizations as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP),
the American Pharmacists Association, the Western Michigan Society of Health-System
Pharmacists and the Kent County Pharmacists Association.
Reed is a graduate of the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, and received
her master's degree from Aquinas College.
This award is named in honor of Joe Oddis, the former longtime executive vice president of ASHP. Oddis is regarded to be a model in leadership for other health-system pharmacists to follow.
MSHP is a practice section of that consists of over of 500 of MPA's 3,600 members.
Since its founding in 1883, MPA has been a leader in the professional and scientific
advancement of pharmacy and in safeguarding the well-being of the individual
patient in Michigan.
