SCHAD RECEIVES PHARMACIST OF THE YEAR AWARD
Randy Schad
of Troy was awarded the Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP)
Pharmacist of the Year Award at the MSHP Annual Meeting Nov. 8 in Lansing, Mich.
Every year,
MSHP recognizes a pharmacist who is a model in leadership and achievement, is
committed to health-system pharmacy, is active in pharmacy organizations, participates
in community service, demonstrates innovative practice and has a professional
demeanor, integrity and ethics.
Schad is
currently employed as the Senior Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Services
with William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. In addition, he is an adjunct assistant
professor at Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and
Health Sciences.
In addition
to being a member of the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) and treasurer
of the MSHP Board of Directors, Schad also belongs to such organizations as
the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Southeastern
Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He has served on MSHP's Educational
Affairs Committee, Organizational Affairs Committee and Professional and Legal
Affairs Committee. He also represented MSHP as a delegate to the ASHP House
of Delegate for multiple years.
Schad received
both his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh
and his master's degree from the University of Iowa.
MSHP is
a practice section that consists of more than 500 of MPA's 3,600 members. Since
its founding in 1883, MPA has been a leader in the professional and scientific
advancement of pharmacy and in safeguarding the well-being of the individual
patient in Michigan.
