Certification in the field of pharmacy is a way to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills above and beyond a degree program or licensure. Certification can also be used as a means to differentiate an individual from colleagues and gain recognition and respect from other health professionals. Certified pharmacists have clearly demonstrated their ability to identify, resolve and prevent drug therapy problems in a specialized area of practice. They have taken the initiative to seek additional education and experience in a particular pharmacy field, exhibiting a high level of commitment to the patients they serve and to the profession of pharmacy. Therefore, pharmacy certification can be very rewarding on both a professional and personal level.
