Registration is now available
online for the Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) Annual Meeting, to be held Nov. 5 at the Crowne Plaza in Grand Rapids. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to six hours of live continuing education credit. The day will begin with registration, followed by the keynote session from humorist Joel Weintraub, who will discuss techniques to increase patient safety.
TJ Richardson from the Office of Public Health Preparedness will talk about incident command procedures and Jim Stevenson from University of Michigan Health-System will discuss the real-life experience in hospital incident response related to the attempted Christmas day bombing in Detroit.
Afternoon clinical and leadership tracks will focus on clinical pearls, technology, and anticoagulation and management issues. For the second year, a basic cardiac life support course will be offered in the afternoon. This course will include adult, child and infant CPR, along with AED and obstructed airway management. Attendees will be required to pre-register for this course.
A residency director breakfast meeting will be also be held and is open to directors, preceptors, current residents and individuals interested in starting a residency program. Attendees also will have ample time to visit with exhibitors and discuss the latest products and services.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to register by Oct. 25, as all registration rates will increase by $10 after this date, including student pharmacist and resident rates. The Crowne Plaza is also offering a special overnight rate of $89 plus tax through Oct. 15. Visit the
