There are a number of events in the coming month that provide pharmacy professionals the opportunity to earn live continuing education (CE) credit. Southwest Michigan Pharmacists Association (SWMPA) is hosting two CE programs this month. The first is this Thursday, July 15 at The Beacon Club in Kalamazoo. Dr. Gregory Oldford will discuss symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia and participants will earn two hours of live CE. To RSVP, contact William Urfer
at (517) 381-2256.
The second SWMPA program will be held July 28 at the Fetzer Center at Western Michigan University. This day-long presentation will focus on cerebral dominance and attendees will earn six hours of live CE. Pre-registration is $86, and the fee will increase to $101 for on-site registrations. To pre-register, contact William Urfer
at (517) 381-2256.
Spaces are also still available in MPA’s upcoming immunization program on July 26 at the Lexington Lansing Hotel. Participants will learn the skills and knowledge necessary to become a primary source for vaccine administration and information. Participants must complete a self-study prior to the live training on July 26 that will be mailed to them upon registration. Successful completion of the study will result in 12 hours of CE. Successful completion of the live seminar component will result in an additional eight hours of live CE, for a total of 20 hours for the program. Online registration
for the July 26 immunization program has been extended until Monday, July 19. There are two additional programs being offered this summer: one on Aug. 24 at the new MPA headquarters
, and one specifically for Wayne State University (WSU) student pharmacists and pharmacy faculty on Aug. 28 at WSU
. For additional information on the immunization programs, contact MPA Marketing & Sales Assistant Cynthia Rowe
at (517) 377-0222.
The Kent County Pharmacists Association (KCPA) is also hosting a live CE event on July 29 at the Cannonsburg Ski Area in Belmont. This event includes a performance by the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra as well as a presentation on management of pain medication use for one hour of live pain CE.
