Michigan Pharmacy Foundation (MPF) will be hosting a leadership conference on Oct. 13 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in the Robinson Leadership Center
at the new MPA Family of Companies headquarters. Participants will earn 3.5 hours of live continuing education credit. To celebrate this inaugural leadership program, MPF is offering $75 scholarships to the first 50 MPA members who would like to attend, reducing the registration fee to $100. MPA members who wish to apply for the scholarship need to provide their MPA membership number and answer the application questions included on the registration form to qualify. Registration is available online
In late 2009, MPF began its first-ever Capital Campaign
to raise $1.5 million to build and equip a center for leadership, personal and professional development; allocate funding to support grant programs for educational research and pilot projects; and establish academic scholarships to support students pursuing pharmacy degrees in Michigan. While the Capital Campaign is only in its introductory phase, the Foundation has begun to equip the Robinson Leadership Center
with the latest technology to ensure optimal training and learning experiences, both onsite and through distance learning.
, named in honor of the late Dewaine Robinson, a dedicated pharmacy leader who supported the very goals being pursued by MPF, will be the home to a series of leadership development courses hosted by the Foundation. The skill development opportunities offered through the Center
will be designed to not only help aspiring new leaders to develop their skills, but also assist current leaders to enhance their existing skill sets.
The Leadership Strategies for Effective Communications program is the first of many future leadership programs to be initiated by MPF. This workshop will provide you with an opportunity to assess your social and/or behavioral style and learn about the social styles of those who are different from you. The role of social style in the workplace, particularly how it can enhance efforts to communicate with staff and others about change initiatives, will be presented and discussed.
