Save the Date for Upcoming CE Events

Mark your calendar for these upcoming opportunities to earn continuing education (CE) credit! Online CE opportunities are also available on the MPA Web site, including a new offering from the July/August 2011 edition of Michigan Pharmacist journal that provides an update on pediatric pain management. Follow the links provided to register for these innovative programs:
  • Kent County Pharmacists Association (CE) Live CE and Presentation
    KCPA is holding a live pain management CE presentation in conjunction with the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra Picnic Pops performance on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Cannonsburg Ski Area. Participants have the opportunity to earn one hour of live pain CE. John Mulder, MD, will discuss the role of the community pharmacist in pain management and palliative care.   • Genesee County Pharmacists Association (GCPA) Continuing Education Program
    GCPA is holding a live CE program on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Mott Community College in Flint. Participants have the opportunity to earn three hours of live CE. Rich Wagner, law enforcement liaison/education, Purdue Pharma, LP, will discuss the Genesee County Prescription Drug Awareness Program, as well as misuse, abuse, diversion, pharmacy crimes and more.   • MPA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Program
    MPA is hosting a Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Program on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Grand Rapids. Participants have the opportunity to earn eight hours of live CE, as well as 12 hours of home study CE for completion of a self-study guide that is mailed to registrants for completion prior to the live seminar. Dean Van Loo, Pharm.D., and Jacqueline Morse, Pharm.D., will provide attendees with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a primary source for vaccine information and administration. MPA is partnering with APhA to offer a special registration rate for this program, supported by an educational grant from Merck & Co.   • MPA Continuing Education Symposium
    MPA is holding a Continuing Education Symposium on Tuesday, Aug. 23 and Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Grand Rapids. Participants have the opportunity to earn up to 10 hours of live CE. Programming will cover a variety of topics, including methadone as an opioid for chronic pain, the role of the pharmacist in palliative care, hypertension, adult developmental disabilities, travel medicine, a new drug update and health information exchange.   • MPA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Program
    MPA is hosting a Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Program on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at the Wayne State University (WSU) Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Detroit. This program is designed exclusively for WSU student pharmacists and pharmacy faculty members. Curtis Smith, Pharm.D., and Heidi Diez, Pharm.D., will provide attendees with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a primary source for vaccine information and administration.
