MPA has a number of resources available to assist members in completing their annual fraud, waste and abuse (FWA) training. First, the Association offers a recorded, live presentation of a FWA program on DVD, valid for one hour of continuing education (CE) credit through Feb. 27, 2013. This program requires that you purchase a CE presentation DVD for $5 through the
MPA Online Store and view, and then complete the posttest and evaluation
online for an additional fee if continuing education credit is desired. An updated version of this DVD program will also be released within the next two weeks.
MPA also offers a FWA manual on CD-ROM developed by the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York. This also includes MPA’s FWA DVD mentioned above. The cost is $200 for members and $400 for nonmembers. Once the DVD presentation is viewed, information on earning continuing education credit for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians is available
online.
Fraud, waste and abuse training must be completed yearly between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 for pharmacies to remain compliant. For more information on FWA training requirements or to view additional programs, visit the
Medicare section of the MPA Web site.
