To warm you up in the cold winter, MSHP programming topics at the MPA Annual Convention & Exposition
are sure to be hot!
The upcoming Convention will be held Feb. 24-26, 2012, at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. MSHP will be offering three sessions, two on Friday morning and one on Saturday afternoon. Be sure to look for these sessions when planning your weekend activities! The most up-to-date list of programming will be available online
A morning session on Friday will provide a lively debate on the controversial topic of tight vs. relaxed blood glucose control in the hospital setting, presented by Simona Butler, Pharm.D., BCPS, and Cesar Alaniz, Pharm.D. The second Friday session will be an antimicrobial stewardship panel focusing on three different types of hospital settings, given by panelists Megan Fletcher, Grayling Hospital; Don Scott, Spectrum Health; and Ryan Mynatt, Detroit Receiving Hospital.
Back by popular demand are pharmacy pearls topics at Saturday afternoon’s session presented by three different speakers incorporating a variety of topics, including pediatrics (Elizabeth Beckman, Pharm.D., BCPS), nutrition/refeeding syndrome (Michael Kraft, Pharm.D., BCNSP) and pulmonary hypertension (Jennifer Priziola, Pharm.D., BCPS).
In addition to educational programs, MSHP will host a student luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 25 from noon-1:20 p.m. Student pharmacists are encouraged to join their classmates and future colleagues, and take advantage of this valuable networking opportunity. Pre-registration is required for this event, so be sure to look for it on your registration form or online registration
MSHP is also holding a delegate caucus for invited House of Delegates participants. The breakfast will be held prior to the House Session, on Sunday, Feb. 26 from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
