Pharmacy Tech II Product Specialist, Oncology - Cowell Family Cancer Center

The Cowell Family Cancer Center, a free-standing ambulatory facility on the campus of Munson Medical Center, is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Tech II Sterile Product Specialist to join an energetic and talented oncology pharmacy team. Munson Medical Center is a 442-bed regional referral center located in north-western Lower Peninsula of Michigan and is the hub of a nine-hospital healthcare system.

The cancer program at Munson is well-established with nine medical hematology/oncology providers, including gynecologic oncology, a radiation therapy suite, and a 43-chair infusion suite - all relocated to a beautiful new facility which opened in 2016. To further meet patient needs, the center also offers nutrition, social work and financial navigation support and a Health and Wellness suite.

Cowell Family Cancer Center Pharmacy treats 80-100 patients per day with our techs working staggered shifts Monday through Friday. The pharmacy is state of the art technology with USP 797 and 800 compliance. Technicians have an opportunity to have lead positions in addition to daily functions (examples: inventory management, research, operations, clinical and patient assistance program)

Clinical Oncology Pharmacist - Cowell Family Cancer Center

Description

Responsibilities 

The Clinical Oncology Pharmacist is an integral part of the overall cancer program, working on the front line directly with providers, other health professionals, and patients to ensure that the medications prescribed for patients contribute to the best possible health outcomes. Direct patient care activities encompass a daily review of all treatment orders, supportive care management, patient education initiatives and supervision of compounding/dispensing functions within the pharmacy.  The clinical pharmacist is also critical in indirect patient care functions, including the build and maintenance of evidence-based chemotherapy treatment plans, participation in multidisciplinary tumor conferences, committee representation, staff and student/resident development and a liaison for inpatient oncology and regional infusion services within the healthcare system.

Requirements

The qualified applicant will possess: a BS Pharmacy degree or higher from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy; current or eligible for Michigan licensure; BCLS certified; completion of a residency, BCOP certification or equivalent oncology clinical practice experience.

Pharmacy Clerk - MedCart Specialty Pharmacy

Job Description: We are looking for dedicated clerks who are friendly, energetic, detail-orientated, and fast and want to work in a cutting-edge environment focused on individualized patient care. Job located in Livonia, Mich. 

POSITION: Pharmacy Clerk: The Pharmacy Clerk assists the Pharmacy Manager and/or Staff Pharmacist with order completion and record keeping support to the limited extent permitted under the Business and Professions Code.

NATURE AND SCOPE: The primary responsibility for this position is to efficiently ship and complete pharmacy fulfillment orders. Primary learning challenge is computer operation and accuracy. To be effective in this position the incumbent must have the ability to communicate with customers and other associates within the pharmacy. Furthermore, the Pharmacy Clerk may only engage in those activities permitted under prevailing state and/or Federal pharmacy regulations as well as store and Pharmacy department policies and procedures. Knowledge of pharmacy operations is preferred for this position. The incumbent must be organized, be able to work on several tasks at one time, and work with minimum supervisors. The incumbent must possess strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or successfully completed a General Educational Development program. Keyboarding, typing, and PC skills.
  • Ability to perform basic (high school level) math, writing and reading skills
  • Ability to assess a situation and make a proper decision based upon policies, guidelines and applicable State or Federal laws.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good phone etiquette.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Responsible for accurately processing customer orders, ensuring price and shipping accuracy.
  • Follows proper payment and Point-of-Sale procedures.
  • Notifies appropriate supervisor of copay and shipping discrepancies.
  • Ensures positive customer relations when applicable.
  • Organizes and cleans.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Ability to communicate through two-way verbal and written communication (speech, hearing and writing).

  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to write and see things in-close proximity (reading distance).
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to read/view computer screens for extensive periods of time.
  • Excellent computer, typing, communication, and arithmetic (including decimals and percentages) skills
  • Ability to learn and accurately operate pharmacy computer systems, cash register, and other equipment.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, accuracy, and attention to detail skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, nights, and holidays, as required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items, as well as stand for duration of shift unless on break
