We are looking for a Pharmacist who is ready to make a difference in the lives of Native American families. The LTBB Pharmacy will service the largest underserved population in northern Michigan, and the Pharmacist will ensure the LTBB Pharmacy delivers high quality service and guidance to every patient. The Pharmacist will manage the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • A Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm D.) from an accredited institution
  • A current and unrestricted license to practice as a Pharmacist in the State of Michigan
  • 2-4 years of experience at a Director Level position within a clinical or retail pharmacy setting
  • A minimum of 5 years in a clinical pharmacy setting
  • Knowledge of proper drug and medication storage to ensure preservation and security.
  • Knowledge of potential side effects of certain drugs or medications to properly advice and counsel patients.
  • Knowledge of appropriate resource and reference material and their application
  • Ability to communicate and motivate patients regarding disease state, desired outcomes, proper administration, use, actions, precautions and storage of their medications.
Strongly Preferred:
  • Experience creating annual budgets
  • Experience in developing policies and procedures, and ensuring internal controls are in place
  • Training and experience in a cultural diverse environment preferably with the Native American population

About the department/position

Summary Description

Directs the personnel, operational and financial activities of the pharmacy services function for assigned operating unit. Identifies the need for policy development and/or revision, defines policies in collaboration with higher level management, input, goals and objectives. Oversees or directs the development, implementation and/or revision of function procedures/protocols in accordance with system-wide goals and objectives. Approves procedures/protocols and/or seeks other departmental approvals as appropriate. Develops, monitors and revises functional processes in accordance with system-wide goals and objectives. Provides input into the development and revision of organizational structure for function. Approves personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals. Develops current to intermediate goals and measures for a major function. Measures and assesses performance. As requested, assists in long range goal development. Assists in development of and monitors budget for a major function. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration or comparable graduate degree. Postgraduate residency training and/or additional coursework in business administration preferred.
2. Three to five years experience in pharmacy administration including two to three years supervisory/leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare facility.
3. Registered Pharmacist and Controlled Substance licensures in the State of Michigan obtained within 3 months
of entry into job.

Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services - Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe

Beaumont Hospital- Grosse Pointe is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services.

Duties include: Key member of the pharmacy leadership team who provides direction and support regarding operational and clinical issues related to inpatient hospital services. Provides direction and support for pharmacy services related to quality & safety, operations and finance. Recommends, develops, coordinates and implements pharmacy policies and procedures. The Assistant Director audits functions for appropriateness, efficiency and effectiveness by direct observation and analysis of data. Improve patient safety, the joint commission and regulatory compliance through guideline development and technology implementation. Administrates resident/student teaching and provides administrative coverage in the absence of the Director.

Requirements include: Michigan Pharmacist License and a Michigan Controlled Substance License; PharmD or Graduate Degree (i.e., MS, MBA, MHA) or ASHP Accredited Pharmacy Residency and 3-5 years progressive Hospital pharmacy management experience.

The applicant must be knowledgeable and committed to providing all patients the highest quality healthcare services. Strong communication skills-written and verbal. Excellent organizational skills. Adept listener  Ability to interact with physicians on a professional level: ability to gain support and cooperation of people inside and outside the pharmacy. Ability to prioritize and adapt to change is essential. Ability to maintain professionalism and maturity in stressful situations. Knowledgeable in pharmacokinetics, chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, pathophysiology, pharmaceutics, therapeutics, patient care techniques, bio-pharmaceutics, drug stabilities, microbiology, Q/A, techniques in medication administration, computer applications, financial principles and nutrition. Computer skills (MS Office).  Previous experience with electronic health record recommended.
