What is MPRS?
The Michigan Pharmaceutical Representatives Society (MPRS) is an affiliated chapter of the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA). The purpose of MPRS is to provide an efficient interface between the pharmaceutical industry, the pharmacy profession, and the medical community.

The Board of Directors of the MPRS consists of a cross-section of individuals from research-based pharmaceutical companies, including sales managers, representatives, government affairs specialists, managed care account managers, representatives from local rep organizations, and the CEO of MPA. The MPRS has representation in the House of Delegates of the MPA, and has been invited to freely share the perspective of the pharmaceutical industry. The innovative concept of the MPRS makes it the first statewide organization in the country to provide such a forum.

Pharmaceutical representatives are highly educated professionals who are dedicated to improving patient care through sharing their knowledge with the health care providers upon which they call. Pharmacists also are highly educated professionals who share parallel goals for improving patient care as they carry out their vocation. Many of the issues facing the health care industry impact pharmaceutical companies as well as pharmacy. One goal of MPRS is to help to identify those issues, and work with pharmacy through the MPA to find common solutions that will benefit all, including the reason that we all exist – the patient. Another objective of MPRS is to help identify and maintain professional access to health care providers in managed care environments.

In the process of advancing the professional image of pharmaceutical representatives, the MPRS Board of Directors had adopted a Code of Professional Ethics. This Code is designed to provide high standards of professional practice for professional representatives. MPRS is also responsible for innovating and organizing educational meetings for the enhancement of special interests of members. These educational meetings also focus on areas of development needed for professional pharmaceutical representatives to remain current in the increasingly dynamic environment of the health care industry.
