Good pharmacy takes more than being a good pharmacist

While you have control over a wide range of activities related to the practice of pharmacy, the best, most forward-thinking pharmacist can do no more than the law will allow.

There are emerging issues within our profession that must be addressed. And there are external forces constantly attempting to regulate our profession even more.

These issues call for a unified effort among pharmacists from across the state working for a common goal: to establish prudent public policy in the interest of public health and the pharmacy profession.

Good pharmacy takes more than being a good pharmacist. It takes the involvement and commitment of each of us within the profession to protect our interests and promote public health and good government. That's why we formed the Pharmacy PAC.

The Pharmacy Political Action Council is a voluntary, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of pharmacists who are interested in promoting good government and public health.

The prescription for good government is written. It's up to you to fill it.

Message from the Chairman

Dear Fellow Pharmacy Professionals,

If not you...who? If everyone thinks someone else will get involved, our concerns may never be addressed. Only when each of us does our part can pharmacy issues be adequately promoted.

Today's business and professional environment is becoming increasingly difficult. Unnecessary red tape and restrictive regulation have driven costs up and hindered our ability to do our jobs. And if we stand by and do nothing, it will become even more difficult. Only by joining together, can we make our voice heard on the issues that concern us most.

Your involvement is vital to the success of the Pharmacy PAC. I encourage you to get involved today. Learn about the issues that face your profession. Learn what you can do to promote good government and pharmacy issues.

If you have questions or would like more information on how you can become involved, please call the Pharmacy Political Action Council at (517) 484-1466. I look forward to meeting you and working with you.

Sincerely,

Henry G. Fuhs
Chairman

Why is my contribution so vital now?

There are already several bills of direct interest to pharmacists currently before the legislature. Pharmacy PAC is working very diligently to institute programs with the state, which utilize pharmacists in key disease management roles, and pay them for this service. It is of major importance to Pharmacy PAC to enable pharmacists in Michigan to be routinely reimbursed for providing pharmaceutical care.

Pharmacy PAC was extremely vital to the campaign success of former State Representative Ehardt's election and we will continue to recruit and promote pharmacists to run for elective office. We need your help to achieve these goals!

In addition, we have been receiving several solicitations from legislators who are trying to pay off debts incurred during the last election. In order to contribute to these pharmacy-friendly legislators, we need your help.

Pharmacy PAC needs personal dollars (contributions from individual people's accounts, not from businesses or organizations) in order to contribute to these key legislators.
Thank you for your contribution and for your support of your profession.
