5:30 - 7:30 pm EST
Virtual, Zoom, hosted by MPA.
Take advantage of this FREE CE offering and learn about updates to the immunization landscape - especially how it relates to COVID-19 vaccination administration.
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted hundreds of millions of lives across the world. At first, the impact on community-based pharmacy practice was largely related to prescription volume and labor changes. In December 2020, the first COVID-19 vaccines received emergency use authorization from the FDA, and community pharmacies became one of the most popular essential businesses in the nation. Patients flooded pharmacies looking to receive vaccination against COVID-19, and as time went on pharmacies got more and more efficient and effective at administering doses. However, what one must be aware of is the constant change that comes with this. Vaccine manufacturers submitting vaccine viability and clinical trial data to the FDA at a rapid rate causes ACIP to meet frequently to determine the most up to date recommendations for vaccination. Training, education, and competency updates should be provided for practicing pharmacists involved in vaccinating against COVID-19.
