The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has requested that MPA remind member pharmacists that the Board of Pharmacy Controlled Substances Rule Set requires pharmacies to fix any errors identified in submission of MAPS data within seven calendar days.  Rule 62d (R 338.3162d) states “The department or the department’s contractor shall notify a pharmacist, pharmacy, dispensing prescriber, or veterinarian of an error in data reporting. Upon receiving notification of an error in data reporting, a pharmacist, pharmacy, dispensing prescriber, or veterinarian shall take appropriate measures to correct the error and transmit the corrected data to the department or the department’s contractor within seven calendar days of being notified of the error.”  LARA has indicated that it will be taking action against pharmacies that do not comply with this regulation.

If you are notified of an error in a MAPS data submission, the error can be corrected through the following steps:
1. Login to your MAPS account.
2. Scroll to the Submission Tracking area of your MAPS homepage (located at the bottom).
3. Choose Correct Error from the Select Action drop-down box to correct the errors.
4. Once the correct information is entered into the erred field, click on Save at the top and it will take you to the next record if there is more than one error that needs to be corrected within this file.
