On Thursday, May 28, MPA held the first-ever Women of Michigan Pharmacy event! More than 30 men and women gathered at the MPA Headquarters in Lansing to enjoy a fun evening of wine tasting and educational social topics.

In addition to the opportunity for networking, the event covered three professional topics. MPA President Jennifer Hagerman presented on tips and tricks to making a good first impression, including not only dress and accessories, but also body language. MPA Chief Operations Officer Dianne Malburg led a presentation on wine selection with a focus on how to handle ordering wine when at a business-related function. Participants were broken up into small groups to discuss how they would such situations then shared their tips and tricks in an open forum. Sister Phyllis Klonowski “appreciated the small group interaction” throughout the evening. The final presentation of the evening was given by MPA Executive Fellow Ashley Builta on how to use color and pattern psychology to convey different meanings when choosing outfits. This presentation sparked interesting discussion amongst the male and female participants, especially on the “rebellious” color red!

Participant Sandra Chase shared that “[it was] a very nice event… fun to see friends.” From the students to the experienced practitioners, everyone walked away with new knowledge and friendships! Thank you to everyone who attended and be sure to check out photos from the evening online.
