The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs requires pharmacists to earn 10 hours of live continuing education (CE) credit and one hour of pain credit, both requirements inclusive of the 30 hours normally earned. Pharmacy technicians recertifying through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board must obtain one hour of pharmacy law and one hour of patient safety CE credit every two years. If you need credit to fulfill your pharmacist licensure or technician certification requirements, MPA has several CE home study articles and video presentations on the MPA Web site. Over 48 hours, including 4.5 hours of pain management topics, is available to pharmacists, and 35 hours, including 3.25 hours of pharmacy law topics and one hour of patient safety, are applicable to pharmacy technicians. Home study articles and video presentations may be accessed online. For those pharmacists who complete any of these CE courses by June 23, 2015, MPA will ensure continuing education credits are submitted in a timely manner to meet the June 30 licensure renewal deadline.
