MPF Golf Classic to be Held at the Picturesque Forest Akers West in East Lansing

This year’s Michigan Pharmacy Foundation (MPF) Golf Classic will be held at a venue that hasn’t hosted the event in years! Join the Foundation at Forest Akers West Golf Course on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, for an 18-hole, 4-person scramble! Forest Akers Golf Courses are located on the picturesque properties of Michigan State University in East Lansing. 

This fun, unique event offers the opportunity for participants to benefit an organization that supports the profession of pharmacy. In addition to a round of golf, attendees enjoy continental breakfast, lunch at the turn, access to the putting green and practice range, various contests and an awards ceremony. 

Men’s, women’s and mixed team flights are permitted. Individuals may make up their own teams, and each team must submit a completed registration form listing all members. If you sign up as an individual, you will be placed on a team and assigned teammates. 

On or before June 10, fees are $160 per individual registration and $600 per foursome registration. Payments must be received by June 10 in order for early registration discounts to apply. Beginning June 11 through registration onsite, the cost is $175 per individual registration and $700 per foursome registration. Please note that foursome payments must be received at the same time to secure the foursome rate. Registration includes greens fees and cart, practice range use, breakfast, lunch at the turn and awards ceremony.

Join us for an Exciting Evening of Wine and Networking on May 28 in Lansing!

MPA is hosting the first-ever Wine and the Women of Michigan Pharmacy event on Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the MPA Headquarters in Lansing. Be sure to register online no later than May 22! 

This social event will help you gain valuable information from some of MPA’s finest women, including president Jennifer Hagerman! Discussion will center on what it takes to be a professional woman, including how to make a good first impression, how to handle wine in professional settings and the significance of color in dress. 

The cost for the evening is $20. Registrants are asked to bring a bottle of their favorite wine to share with everyone. As a special offer, discounted registration is offered to mentors and mentees who register as a pair at $35 and bring one bottle of wine per pair. MPA will provide a tasting plate and nonalcoholic beverages for the evening.

Help PART Respond to Pharmacy Issues at the State and Federal Level

The Pharmacy Advocacy Response Team (PART) has grown incredibly the last several weeks. PART is a group of individuals who are passionate about speaking up for the pharmacy issues that matter the most to them. There are so many pharmacy issues at the federal level right now, and advocates all across the state are signing up to do their PART and make a difference for their profession and their patients.

Order Your Controlled Substance Inventory List Today to Ensure You Meet the June 30 Deadline!
Michigan law requires an annual inventory of controlled substances to be completed no more than 30 days prior to May 1 and no later than 60 days after May 1. Your copy must be submitted to the state between April 1 and June 30. Be on top of this important task by using the Controlled Substance Inventory List available from Pharmacy Services Inc. Don’t Fret the MPJE! Be Prepared by Attending MPA’s Annual Law Review

Fourth-year student pharmacists as well as pharmacists transferring from another state are invited to an exclusive program on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Lansing Community College, West Campus, in Lansing. Join MPA for the Pharmacy Law and Regulatory Review and 2014 Update, which is specifically designed to help fourth-year students achieve a strong understanding of the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE) content and aid prospective pharmacists in preparing for the test. Registrations are due May 26, so don’t delay in signing up for this event

The program will be presented by Eric Roath, Pharm.D., MPA director of professional practice. Attendees will also be able to purchase Michigan Pharmacy Law: A Guide to the Statutes and Regulations (7th edition, 2015) at a discounted price of $20. Written by Jesse Vivian, R.Ph., J.D., a professor of pharmacy practice at Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and general counsel for MPA, this publication covers Michigan statutes, administrative rules, the federal Controlled Substances Act and more. 

Please note that pharmacist continuing education will not be awarded for this program.
