Improve Patient Care: Attend the Point-of-Care Testing Certificate Course and Train-the-Trainer Program in October!

There is a recognized need for community pharmacists to collaboratively improve patient access to care through the use of point-of-care testing. The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Community Pharmacy-based Point-of-Care Certificate Course provides community pharmacists and members of academia, industry and government with the skills necessary to develop and implement a collaborative testing program for influenza, Group A streptococcus, HIV and hepatitis C.

The course’s 20 hours of continuing education (12 hours of home study and eight hours of live training) will cover information on the targeted disease state, the physical assessment of a patient presenting to a community pharmacist, point-of-care tests and how to establish a point-of-care testing service. Register online for the Oct. 4 certificate course at MPA Headquarters in Lansing.

Following the certificate course, is the NACDS Community Pharmacy-based Point-of-Care Testing Train-the-Trainer Program on Oct. 5. Complete your certificate training by becoming a trained trainer! This program is designed for individuals interested in becoming faculty members to deliver the Point-of-Care Testing Certificate Course and for those who want to deliver the Certificate Course within their own organization. The Train-the-Trainer Program prepares faculty members in the delivery of point-of-care testing.

Your teaching will directly impact the pharmacists you train, the quality in which they provide patient care in the field of point-of-care testing, and thereby making the delivery of point-of-care tests within community pharmacies a standard of practice. This day-long training program will provide a more in-depth review of the Community Pharmacy-based Point-of-care Testing Certificate Course’s educational content as well as provide tips and techniques to prepare faculty members to deliver a quality presentation. Successful completion of the Point-of-care Testing Certificate program is required. Register online for the Oct. 5 train-the-trainer program at MPA Headquarters in Lansing.
