That's My Pharmacist is a public relations initiative that encourages patients to get to know their pharmacist. Although the average American makes frequent trips to the pharmacy for themselves or their family, most people don’t even know the name of their pharmacist and may not have a clear understanding of the prescriptions they take and what their pharmacist can help with.
Pharmacists are the most accessible health care provider, whose ultimate goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. Pharmacists are also the medication experts, providing patients with all the information they need to have safe and effective outcomes from their medication therapy.
The Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) and Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) Public Affairs Committee has made resources available for patients, including a brochure with a personal medication card, posters and flyers. Consider utilizing these materials to educate yourself on the important role that you can play in your own health care as well as the role of your pharmacist and how they are working to improve the health of patients everyday.
