SWPMA Live CE – "I Did Not Think You'd Go That Low: A Pharmacologic-Focused Review of the ACC/AHA 2026 Management of Dyslipidemia Guidelines"

This live, in-person continuing pharmacy education activity is presented by the Southwest Michigan Pharmacists Association (SWMPA) under a Joint Providership Agreement with the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA).

Program Overview

Lipid management continues to evolve as new therapies emerge and clinical guidelines are updated for the primary and secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). This program provides a practical review of the 2026 ACC/AHA Management of Dyslipidemia Guidelines, emphasizing the role of statin and non-statin therapies, emerging lipid biomarkers, and evidence-based treatment selection for today's patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Describe how the ACC/AHA dyslipidemia guideline recommendations will influence primary and secondary treatment decisions moving from the 2018 guideline to the 2026 update.
2. Review the mechanisms of action of recommended non-statin treatment options.
3. Propose appropriate pharmacologic dyslipidemia treatment strategies using LDL-C, apolipoprotein B (ApoB), coronary artery calcium (CAC), and lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] values.
