Throughout the year, MPA and Michigan Pharmacy PAC organize several events to encourage pharmacy professionals to interact with elected officials, become educated about important practice issues, stay up-to-date on the latest laws and regulations, and network with others in their profession. Pharmacy PAC Reception (April)
The Michigan Pharmacy Political Action Council Reception occurs each year during the MPA Annual Convention & Exposition, which typically begins on a Friday and ends on Sunday. Each year, elected officials and Association members are selected to be honored with awards for their support of the profession and good public health, including Representative and Senator of the Year, Good Public Health Policy and Hank Fuhs Good Government Awards (see the Awards page for more details). The reception provides an opportunity for legislators, contributors and others to gather and reflect on the previous year’s activities and successes.
The 2026 PAC Reception will take place Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Lansing Center in Lansing.
Pharmacy Day at the Capitol (September)
This event occurs in September in non-election years on the south Capitol lawn in Lansing. Pharmacy Day at the Capitol provides an opportunity for pharmacists and student pharmacists to educate legislators on their value as health care professionals. Volunteers are given unique one-on-one time with Michigan’s elected officials to provide wellness demonstrations, including blood pressure monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, immunizations, emergency preparedness and healthy lifestyle practices. In addition, participants have a chance to utilize talking points to discuss key pharmacy issues with lawmakers. This event is held in conjunction with Michigan Pharmacists Association’s Medication Disposal Event at the Capitol, which provides a venue for the public to safely dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medications and showcases the value of pharmacists in keeping patients and communities safe. There are also sponsorship opportunities available for this event.
The next Pharmacy Day at the Capitol will take place in September 2027.
