Hormonal Contraceptive Prescribing Training Programs

Under legislation signed into law in 2026, pharmacists can now prescribe self-administered hormonal contraception follow the completion of a patient self-risk assessment. Michigan law and Board of Pharmacy rules require that pharmacists complete training through an organization or course accredited by ACPE prior to offering this service.

MPA is pleased to offer the following ACPE-accredited training programs that fulfill the requirements of Michigan Board of Pharmacy Administrative Rule R 338.581b for pharmacists to prescribe hormonal contraception under MCL 333.17744g.

This 2-hour online home study training program was developed in partnership with the Michigan Pharmacists Association and contains a state-specific a module addressing Michigan regulations. This program includes:

APhA Increasing Access to Hormonal Contraceptive Products

Price: $165     Non-member price: $291

This APhA-developed 4-hour online interactive training program will prepare pharmacists to discuss the hormonal contraceptive options available to prescribe, furnish or dispense, in accordance with state laws. This CE program is a series of four courses that must all be completed with a final assessment passed with a score of 70% or better in order to receive a certificate of completion. The courses include:
