Selma Yamamoto, System Director Pharmacy and Infusion Centers, MyMichigan Health
Four-and-a-half years ago, I made a commitment to MyMichigan Health and was not licensed in state of Michigan. I didn’t realize it then, but know now, that MPA is a huge resource who could’ve helped me with my licensure exam. While my colleagues provided me with the day-to-day clinical and operational support, my involvement with our local chapters connected me with other like-minded pharmacists and opened my mind to possibilities. I had several offers for positions at other organizations because of these connections. I find my greatest joy in mentoring young pharmacists and technicians and watching them develop. What better way than through MPA?
Ryan Bickel, director of pharmacy services, Ascension
As a pharmacist, I feel it is important to remain involved with my local, state, and national professional organizations. They keep me informed, advocate for our profession, provide educational resources, facilitate networking, and offer opportunities to serve and/or publish. I enjoy my MPA membership, as it also includes membership in the Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and a local association.
