Plans are being made for the 2023 Outpatient Antimicrobial Stewardship Innovations Symposium (OASIS) sponsored by Michigan Society of Health-system Pharmacists (MSHP) and Ferris State University College of Pharmacy. This program will be a 3.5-hour educational meeting, held on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, with both in-person and virtual options for attendees.


Agenda

11:15 a.m.: Registration desk opens. Networking with speakers, attendees and exhibitors.

Noon:  Outpatient Antimicrobial Stewardship Across the Continuum of Care: ED, Urgent Care and Hospital Discharge

Objectives:

  • Describe possible interventions at or near hospital discharge to improve antibiotic prescribing appropriateness on discharge from the hospital.
  • Describe the impact of pharmacist involvement on antimicrobial stewardship in the emergency department and urgent care settings.
  • Identify strategies that can be used by pharmacists to support antimicrobial stewardship efforts in the emergency department and urgent care settings.

1 p.m.:  The State of Outpatient Antibiotic Utilization

Objectives:

  • Review the CHARM project and other recourses to track and assess outpatient antibiotic use.
  • Describe the state of antibiotic use observed in the CHARM database.
  • Discuss the state of antibiotic use at the state level.

2:30 p.m.: Outpatient Antimicrobial Stewardship Innovations Symposium – Panel Discussion

Objectives:

  • Discuss what the next disease state or focus will be for outpatient antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Outline strategies to engage a broader segment of clinic members in antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Review the role of point-of-care tests in outpatient antimicrobial stewardship.
  • List strategies of how to engage in outpatient antimicrobial stewardship in unique practice settings (i.e., dentistry).

Exhibitor Opportunities
The exhibitor fee is $750 which includes one exhibitor table in the common area and one meeting badge. Additional badges may be purchased for $150 each. Additionally, your name and logo will be highlighted verbally and on a slide at the beginning of the symposium. Pharmacy continuing education credits are complimentary (if applicable).
